Tech & Society

An innocent young man in New York is being monitored by the police and repeatedly questioned without reason after the system has identified him as a potential criminal. Do algorithms bring an end to the presumption of innocence?

Even if technologies are developed with good intentions, their application does not necessarily have only positive effects. To ensure that the benefits are for the good of all and that resources are preserved, it is important to monitor and test their use.
Although financial constraints and the desire for efficiency prevail everywhere, it is only when social goals such as equal opportunities, social participation and privacy are also central to the use of technology that we can publicly and profitably resolve potential conflicts of interest.
