How do we as a society learn to deal with crises?
As we all know, there is always a crisis – and in recent years we have been confronted with a whole series of global and interconnected crises. Further economic, financial and migration crises, military conflicts and an increasing social divide are anything but impossible.
By resilience, we mean the ability of a system to respond adequately to such setbacks by adapting to new framwork conditions. The goal is not simply to restore the previous state, but rather to continuously adapt to the future, to possible crises and uncertainties. This requires a systemic balance of stability (identity, safety, reliability) on the one hand and flexibility (agility, openness, creativity) on the other.
In the betterplace lab, we want to explore how this balance can be achieved – for example within non-profit organizations.
