Can digitization strengthen human rights? What about online security in an age of (state) surveillance? How can we navigate the web without violence and how do we find verified information?
These are the urgent questions we would like to try to answer in the lab. We want to explore how digitization can strengthen human rights by
1. making injuries more visible
2. enabling more people to access information and
3. uniting their voices and thus making them more effective.
This is what we do at Das NETTZ - the civil society networking centre against hate speech - as well as at the Digital Human Rights Lab, by connecting activists and local civil society organisations to make their voices known and heard.
